Dee-liciously Sexy Romance

New author discovery

I’ve just made a new discovery. An author I’ve never read before. But after today, I have to say - I fully intend to read every one of her books.

Red Garnier is a wonder. An absolute wonder. I had her book Color my Heart on my TBR list for a while, and I finally opened it today. Gobbled up each and every word, then jumped on her website, and promptly bought another book.

I think, to be honest, Bone Fide Liar has just reached the top of my all time favorite erotic romance books. I love, love, loved it. Hot and hilarious. A real keeper.

The Blurb:

Alex will do whatever it takes to keep male coworkers away from Carly. Who cares if she hates his guts? He wants her bad. He can barely believe his eyes when Carly sways seductively toward him and speaks the words he’s been longing to hear. Her place. Bring the plastics. There really must be a god! It’s finally time to make Carly his—for real this time.

Carly has heard her share of lies, but the ones spilling out of Alexander’s lips beat them all. The gall of him, spreading nasty rumors of them doing all manner of kinky things—even if she has dreamed about it. Carly’s determined to pay him back, and she’s wasting no time putting her perfect plan into action.

I know, I am not a reviewer, just a writer and a reader. But if you want a real treat, go and buy Bone Fide Liar. You’ll be just as hooked as me.

My menage buddy

No, all you dirty minded readers, I’m not talking about that kind of buddy. I’m talking about my writing buddy, Sami Lee, who just sold her menage novella to Samhain!

Wahoo!!!

The one reason I am so excited by this news is that Sami and I were busy writing our novellas at the same time, and honestly, if I hadn’t had her to help me through the process, I would never have finished my book. She was an amazing support, and had me crying with laughter at some of her comments and observations.

The other reason I am so excited is that I have read Sami’s novella, Chasing Sunset, and OMG it is brilliant. Super hot, and a fantastic story. So fantastic that she inspired me to blog about it a while ago - and discuss Menage at the Samhain Cafe. Of course I had to keep mum about who’s story it was. Didn’t want to post any spoilers, but now that it’s all official…well you can look forward to the release date in Dec of 08.

Don’t miss this one. I promise you. It is an awesome read.

You write what???

I’m facing a dilemma. What do I do when my kids ask me what I write.

Interested in the answer?

Well, I’ve blogged over at Samhain. Why not pop over there and take a look?

A Second Spotlight on: Selena Illyria

Please help me welcome back Selena!!!

There are two things you should know about her:

First off…it’s her birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY. I am thrilled she could be here for her big day.

And secondly, Selena has a new release out tomorrow. Woohoo. Lots of reasons for celebrating.

Thirdly - be warned - I’ve read the attached excerpt from her new book, and if you are under 18…don’t read it! ;)

So without further ado…here is Selena:

Hi everyone! Jess was kind enough to invite me back. Thank You Jess! Big Hugs.
Okay, so what I’m I supposed to talk about ? Hmmm . . . oh yeah!
Werewolves? Kilts? How about we put them together? Werewolves in kilts, I like that. But not in wolfy form of course. LOL. This leads me to my latest release, Tartan Surprise.
Tartan Surprise takes place in Scotland, where the full moon is near and there is werewolf, Iain O’Keefe, looking to take the edge off of his hunger for sex and violence. He spies Katherine in a pub and catches her staring at him in his kilt. He can see the questions in her eyes and sends her a drink as a way of introduction. How about we talk with Iain for a bit about that day, shall we?
SI: Iain, it’s so nice of you to talk to me.
Iain: Why wouldn’t I want to talk to you?
SI: Um, no reason, I’m just saying it’s nice of you to take the time to talk to me.
Iain: Of course, of course. Drink?
SI: Um, no thank you.
Iain: You sure I can’t tempt you with a nice glass of Bailey’s now?
SI: No, no, that’s okay.
Iain: Well all right then, so what did you want to talk to me about?
SI: Katherine and the night you met her.
Iain: You sure you want the details, love? You know the saying, a gentleman never tells.
SI: Uh, Iain, last I heard you weren’t a gentleman.
Iain pauses, throws his head back and laughs.
Iain: You’re right, but I do have my moments. *chuckles* So, what do you want to know?
Si: Tell us what you thought of when you first saw Katherine.
Iain raises his hand and rubs the back of his neck.
Iain: Do you really want to know that? I mean, not that I won’t tell you know, but, wouldn’t want to scare the people now would I?
SI: That bad huh?
Iain: Filthy rather. *chuckes*
Selena shakes her head.
SI: Can you give us a PG rated version of your thoughts?
Iain: Sure can. When I first saw her I thought, that’s the one I want. Gorgeous, sexy, everything I could want in a woman and then some. I saw her looking. I knew she was wondering if what they say is true about you know, going commando under the kilt and all that and believe me I wanted to show her.
SI: I’m sure you did.
Iain: But I didn’t want to just march over there so I sent over a nice shot of the finest Scottish whisky. After she took the shot I went over and kissed her.
SI: She could have slapped you.
Iain chuckles.
Iain: It would have been worth it. Besides what happened later, well . . . .
Iain’s eyes darken and Selena knows he’s no longer thinking about the interview.
SI: Iain? Hello, back here please.
Iain: What? Oh, sorry, got a bit distracted now where were we?
Iain’s cell phone rings.
Iain: Excuse me for a second.
Iain gets up and walks away but Selena can hear his voice get lower and huskier. After a moment, Iain returns to the table.
Iain: Sorry about that, um would you mind if we did this interview another time, gotta get home, business to take care of.
Selena: Sure, have fun.
Iain: Oh you know I will. *chuckles*

Well that wasn’t much of an interview so how about I give you a taste of Tartan Surprise?

Blurb:
Iain just wanted someone to help take the edge off before the full moon rose in a few days. When he met Katherine in the pub he felt he had found the perfect person to help him with his problem.
Katherine could not resist the kilted stranger who caught her eye at the bar. When he offered her a night of hot sex she couldn’t say no.
But what happens when she finds out that the stranger is her boss’s son?

Excerpt:
“Nope, I’m done for the day, how much…” she was stopped when he held up his hand.
“All ready taken care of, love,” he nodded his head toward the man at her right. She rolled her eyes and sighed. Turning on her stool, she looked at him, his smile said it all. He thought he was going to get rewarded for his thoughtfulness. Not tonight, pal, she thought.
“I’m not going to sleep with you, give you a blow job or a hand job. Just because you bought me a drink means nothing, it was your money you wasted. Now if you’ll excuse me, thank you and good night.”
She turned all the way around and hopped off the stool, hating that fact that she was only five foot three inches, and she had to hop down. Her booted heels clunked on the old wooden floor. She had just made it beyond the threshold of the entrance when she felt a hand wrap around her wrist, and she was jerked back. Her spine hit a wall and two hands were placed next to each side of her head. She could see his chiseled face was a contrast of the darkness of the entryway to his right and the dim, golden glow of the bar to his left. She swallowed wondering if he was pissed at her for her brush off.
“First, I never asked you to pay me back. Nor did I ask you to sleep with me, or give me a blow job or a hand job. Those things would be nice, and I would have loved for you to offer, but I didn’t. So don’t assume you know anything about me just because I buy you a drink.”
She was speechless.
“I did kiss you, not because of the drink, but because I wanted to, and besides, you were staring at my kilt. You were wondering if it’s true what they say, weren’t you?”
As his face moved closer to hers, the scent of whiskey surrounded her. The warmth of his body moved closer, causing her to try and move back to make room. She was now very aware of the size difference between them, he had to be about six feet and over, as he crowded her, filling her view with just him. She gulped, lifted up her hands and placed them on the massive wall of muscle before her. He lowered his head until their lips were just a breath apart.
“I can tell you with great certainty that it’s all true,” he murmured as his lips brushed hers. She quaked, his heat washed over her, she was burning up. The room was too hot. Her body ached, her skin felt too tight, her breasts felt full and heavy, her stomach tightened in anticipation as her pussy throbbed and her clit pulsed with need. He passed of his lips over hers before pressing his mouth and then his body fully against her, curves melting into hardened muscle. The kiss was slow and simmering with held back heat. She took handfuls of his shirt, pulling him closer until her palms were trapped between them.

Dunmore Rising by Gia Dawn

I’ve just learned that author Gia Dawn has a new release at Samhain, but is not well and so cannot promote the book herself. Can’t let a new release go unacknowledged can we?

Check it out:

Dunmore Rising

Love is mightier than the sword…

Demons of Dunmore, book 4.

Sir Graham Dunmore is looking forward to competing in his first summer tournament—until he gets saddled with babysitting a prince in disguise, three fairy-godmothers he would much rather see fly back to where they came from, and a woman for a squire. Gone for years, Jiliana is now back in Westmyre, older, colder, with a lethal fighting skill that leaves him both impressed and intrigued.

Jili doesn’t recognize this sleek, well-trained man as the awkward friend from her youth. But seeing Graham again brings back painful memories of a brutal past. One that forces her to live a life of tight control, lest one slip unleash a deadly monster capable of hurting everyone in her path.

Yet as Graham patiently teaches her the arts of love, Jili has a glimmer of hope that she can finally control the killer that lurks inside her—until a ninja assassin begins to stalk the tournament.

With a heavy heart, she realizes Graham is going to need every skill she possesses to protect the prince—the very skills that could tear them apart forever.

Warning: This title contains cranky fairies, a gorgeous hero, and a heroine who just about kicks his ass…plus really sizzling sex told in naughty language.

Now available from MBaM

Hope you feel better soon, Gia.

Breakfast

I was mighty proud of myself this morning. Instead of stopping for my customary latte and banana bread, I decided to have a healthy breakfast. I tossed up between oats or toast and avo. Toast won.

As we had no bread, I nipped into the shops on the way home from school drop off to stock up.

Which is when I caught sight of them. You know that moment, when you see a particular food, and suddenly you realize with absolute certainty that nothing else will satisfy you? Well I had one of those moments. Toast and avo had lost every last iota of appeal. I tossed the goodies in my trolley, paid for my groceries and sped home.

Which would explain why I am now sitting happily, but guiltily, at my computer shoving chocolate covered peanuts into my mouth.

Go on. I dare you to come up with a more delicious meal to start your day.

Menage and More Anthology

I’ve been trying to keep this to myself, tease a little at the Samhain Cafe, but some things are just too big not to share…

So, remember that story I wrote a few weeks back? The one I finished in a month and hummed and ha’ed about whether or not to submit it? Well, I took a chance, and sent it in. Yep, I know. I was nuts. I should have done the right thing and let it rest before rewriting it a dozen times at least.

But, every so often, chances pay off. :D

My story was accepted!!!

Interested in more details? Sure. Only too happy to oblige. The Anthology I submitted to was one for Samhain, entitled Menage and More. One of the very exciting aspects of this anthology is that it releases in September - 3 months away. Another exciting aspect: I get to share the book with two other authors. Many of you will already know the bestselling writer, Lorelei James from Samhain. And then there is someone new, someone I’m looking forward to meeting - Jayne Rylon. The third brilliant factor is that I get to work with Samhain’s executive editor, Angela James. Wow. What a rush!

So, wanna hear about my story? Not a prob. But be warned - this blurb is totally unedited. I’m sure lots will change…

A Question of Trust:

Madeline Jones is having the time of her life. She’s met a man who fulfills everyone of her sexual fantasies. Things cannot get better than this…or so she thinks.

When Gabriel Carter introduces her to his best friend, Connor Regan, sparks fly. Suddenly Maddie wants more than just Gabe. She wants Connor as well. And Connor and Gabe seem happy to oblige.

But threesomes can get complicated. Hearts can be shattered. Although Gabe and Connor have a set of rules they play by, to minimize such complications, it’s not always easy to follow the guidelines.

Sometimes, even the most comprehensive codes of honor have to be challenged.

Warning: This book contains spicy sex scenes, uninhibited voyeurism, m-f-m passion, anal play, and a new sandwich recipe.

Oh, and if you’re interested in some reader feedback…well, a critique partner emailed me after she read the whole novella. This is a part of what she said:

“You create such enormous emotional tension, whilst delivering on the erotic front, in a moving and thrilling way. I’m in awe.”

Then she emailed a while later to say:

Should have post scripted my email with the fact that I had to write quickly since I was in such a hurry to get upstairs and jump my husband. The poor man didn’t know what hit him!!”

LOL,

Jess

SPOTLIGHT ON…SAMI LEE

Please join me in welcoming the lovely Sami Lee to my blog. I am so excited to have her here. She’s put together a little bio and an enticing little excerpt to tickle your taste buds.

Sami will be popping back frequently, so don’t be shy to leave her a message or two.

Now, without further ado… Heeeere’s Sami:

Hello. My name is Sami and I write romance novels.

It sounds like I’m introducing myself at a 12 step program. Perhaps they ought to have one for people like me. I walk around with an entire cast of characters in my head – or my creative brain as I prefer to call it because it seems to excuse what would otherwise be referred to as insanity. Hey, it worked for Van Gogh so I’m stealing it – although I do like my ears where they are, thank you very much.

My good friend and fellow Samhain author Jess has invited me here today to introduce myself and talk about my latest release. Fijian Fling is a short story that’s just been released by Samhain Publishing in an anthology entitled Sand, Sun and Sex. It’s the story of Nick and Sophie, an unlikely pair that find love can overcome all manner of obstacles. Or it’s a fun bit of erotic escapism set on a tropical island in the hot summer sun (yes, this is the story with the now notorious shower scene). Either way you look at it, I hope you check it out. There are three other stories in the print book by authors Beth Williamson, Michelle Cary and Jennifer Colgan, so this book is great value.

Here’s a taste of Fijian Fling:

“Will it sound like a line if I ask if this seat is taken?”
Sophie looked up at the man who had spoken, her pulse hitching at the breadth of shoulders and the ridged expanse of haired chest, muscled and damp and smelling of the ocean. He wore nothing but a pair of denim cut-offs that clung wetly to his slim hips.
“Nick,” she said and snapped her gaze back to his face. Dominick Dufour, the owner of this casual little resort off the beaten track on Viti Levu, the main island of Fiji.
“You remember,” he noted, and Sophie gave herself a mental kick for letting it show. In the past, she’d gone out of her way to treat him with polite aloofness, the best way she could think to handle a man who looked at her in ways men weren’t supposed to look at women holidaying with their significant others. “It’s good to see you again, Sophie.”
He had never called her Miss Edison, always Sophie, even though she had never invited him to use her first name. She had let it slide as a trick of the casual atmosphere of the place before, even when he had continued to refer to Brad as Mr. Winslow.
She couldn’t dismiss the sound of her name on his lips as casual now. There was something too quietly intimate about the way he said it, not bothering to hide the fact he remembered her from her two previous visits here.
“Can I get you another drink?”
“Now, that sounds like a line,” she told him, glad she had recovered her senses enough to sound droll.
His smile was utterly unapologetic. “Sorry.”
She should refuse. She certainly shouldn’t encourage him. But she thought—what the heck? She was on holiday and had every reason to drown her sorrows. “A strawberry daiquiri, thanks.”
He signaled to the bartender before taking a seat on the lounger adjacent to her and stretching out his long legs. They were carpeted with soft-looking, shiny black hair, the muscles of his thighs and calves taut and strong. Her attention snagged on the juncture of his thighs, her eyes taking on a will of their own. Good grief. Had she really just checked out his crotch?

Sami Lee’s FIJIAN FLING is the perfect summer romance story… This is one of my favorites from the MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S STEAM collection. I highly recommend it,”
5 Ribbons! Nickie Langdon, Romance Junkies

You can buy the book either in print or e-format through my books page. Or feel free to visit my site at www.samilee.com for a look see.

Enough about me – what about you? What’s your idea of the perfect holiday. Sand, sun and sex or an exciting European city? Paris in the spring or cruising the Caribbean?

Thanks for spending some time with me today. Keep reading what you enjoy.

Migraines and Auras

Yesterday I had the mother of all migraines. Funny thing is, the headaches itself wasn’t too bad. Nope a couple of tablets and a good sleep got me through the worst of it. It was the aura that almost flattened me.

Not sure if this has ever happened to you, but I was driving with my 3 year old, and my windscreen seemed pretty dirty. Everything was distorted. Cleaned it at least five times, to no avail. My vision still was not clear. I then began to wonder if perhaps I had something in my eye. Rubbing and blinking had no effect. If anything, my vision was getting worse.

At which point I thought…uh oh! Migraine.

*Sigh* I guess you get to know the warning signs when you have them often enough. When something completely bizarre happens to your body, with absolutely no rational explanation.

Anyway, things kept getting worse. So bad in fact, that when I arrived to fetch my seven year old at soccer, I parked the car, phoned DH and asked him to come and collect us. No way could I drive us all home-I could not see.

Spent the time waiting for DH to arrive in a haze. Migraine was beginning, head starting to pound, and everything looked fuzzy, as if viewing the world through a crystal glass. To make matters worse, all the sound around me seemed to be coming from a million miles away.

Stood around like a complete moron, talking to the other soccer mums and dads, pretending all was fine, but really hoping I had correctly identified everyone, because their faces were all blurred. I’m sure they thought I was stoned. Or worse, in the process of losing my mind completely. Hell,I thought I was in the process of losing my mind

Ah well, at least my knight in shining armor (DH) arrived to save the day. He hustled us all into the car, took us home and sent me to bed. I spent the rest of the day and night asleep.

Today I feel a little fragile, and a lottle nervous to drive. But at least the aura is gone, and hopefully it won’t be back again. Why am I sharing this with you, you ask? Hmm. I’m not sure. Maybe because I am so thrown by the experience, I’m not convinced it really happened. I’m hoping that writing it all down will put it in perspective for me.
